LIGHTS SIBERIA

The second full-length studio album by Canadian electro-synth-pop sensation LIGHTS was released 13 days ago. On the first listen one can immediately hear that LIGHTS has grown immensely as a musician, producer and artist. Her songs seem more complex musically, electronically and lyrically than they did on The Listening. I wouldn't say that Siberia is a better album than The Listening because the both albums are amazing in different ways, but Siberia is an absolute master-piece. It's catchy right from the opening title track Siberia right through to the 9 minute closing track , Day One, which is a live recording of the first jam session LIGHTS had with fellow Canadian musicians Holy Fuck. LIGHTS has said that the album is a lot more gritty than The Listening and has a lot of Dubstep elements particularly in Flux and Flow, Where the fence is low, Suspension and Fourth dimension.

Over-all Siberia is an album that was well worth the wait and is one of my favourite albums of 2011. Siberia also features Canadian rapper and hip-hop artist Shad on two of the tracks. LIGHTS in studio working on her new album

"I’ve been in full on record-making mode for almost two months now. As creatively free the outcome may be, the process actually involves a massive amount of routine, such as (very) regular visits with my good friend thesaurus.com, my Clyde Caldwell fantasy art book, copious amounts of tea, wearing the same pants every day (despite the breezy crotch rip), frozen yogurt, no-care hair, and a trusty source of CNS (chicken noodle soup). And maybe cookies. It also involves springing up (well… rolling groggily over) at 3AM to lay down the ideas you are bursting with in your half sleep. Thinking too much about anything in particular leads half of that whole sleep somewhere off in the direction of oblivion, so whole sleep has been something of a myth so far in 2011. Anyway, here I find myself yet again, wrapped up in a wonderfully puffy cloud (-:”/9) but unable to sleep because there is an idea in the way. Damn obstructive ideas. Actually, I think that’s an oxymoron. "

Lights new album out 2011

1. Light's new album

Not much is known about Lights Poxleitners' new musical endeavour other than her single My boots which was released in October 2010 and something the artist calls lightstep... which should be very interesting. Lights said on her twitter that the second full length album will hopefully be released by April 2011 and she is currently in studio writing songs and working in the album.

2. We are the ocean new album

Post-hardcore rockers from London are set to release their second full length studio album in April/May 2011.
They released a single ,on the 4th of January off the new album, called "What it feels like" which is available for free

3. There for tomorrow new album

Florida pop punk band There for tomorrow will be releasing their third studio album mid-2011. The band has said the album will sound "bad in the best ways possible". The album will include 13 new tracks, all of which were written in a month.

4. You me at six new album

You me at six have announced that they are in the process of recording a new album which will be released in September 2011. They have recently released a new single with Chiddy Bang called rescue me. According to rock sound magazine their second album set the pace for 2010 but for lead singer Josh Franceschi said 2010 was only the beginning.

5. Rise Against end game

On 24 September 2010 Rise Against began recording their sixth studio album End Game. The lyrics on this album are related to real world events such as hurricane Katrina and the deep water horizon oil spill. The first single of the album "Help is on the way" was released on 7 January 2011 and the album will be released on the 5th of march 2011.

6. Architects The here and now

I know I've already reviewed this one, but lets just be honest 2011 wouldn't be epic with out this album. The architects fourth studio album will be out 24 January 2011. Listen to it so long on their official myspace page. This gem is a must have.

7. Panic at the disco return

Their line-up may have changed since their last album but alternative rockers panic at the disco are back with their third studio album Vices and Virtues will be released everywhere on the 29th of March 2011. The first single off the album, "The ballad of Mona Lisa" will be released on the 1st of February 2011. A clip of the single can be heard on their website http://www.panicatthedisco.com/

8. D.R.U.G.S Debut album

Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows is the new American post-hardcore group will be releasing their debut album on the 22nd of February 2011. The band consists of vocalist Craig Owens (ex-Chiodos), drummer Aaron Stern (Matchbook Romance), guitarist/vocalist Nick Martin (Underminded), guitarist/vocalist Matt Good (From First to Last), and bassist Adam Russell (Story of the Year). They have released three songs for download, "If you think this song is about you, it probably is", "Mr. Owl ate my metal worm" and "sex life". You can check them out at http://www.thisisdrugs.com/

9. Blink 182 is finally back

In 2009 blink 182 announced at the Grammy's that they were reuniting and now a whole 2 years later it seems a new album is finally about to hit us. The band stated that they've been working on their new album since 2008 and that it's set for release in April/May 2011. A single "up all night" has been announced for the forthcoming album. Blink 182... are they back for good? I hope so.

10. Let's get it debut album

Pop-club-rock band from Ohio, Let's Get it, release their debut album in 2011. If you haven't heard of them do yourself a favour and download their EP Digital Spaces. I've been waiting for more from them for awhile now. Check out their song "Duck, Duck, Grey goose" and their song "Down to us" featured on fearless records 'Tis the season to be fearless. Not much is known about their album but they announced on twitter that it will be out early 2011.

Lights Poxleitner A.K.A LIGHTS is the 23 year old singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada. LIGHTS makes electro-synthpop music that's also been described as intergalactic electro pop. She is almost always seen with a keytar in hand and uses synthetic sounds and a amazing voice to make addictive, happy and fun pop music. LIGHTS started her music career in 2006 and has since released 2 EPs (LIGHTS. Acoustic EP & LIGHTS EP) and released her first full length studio album The listening in 2009, but she goes further than just pop music and has collaborated with many artists including Silverstien, Bring me the horizon, The secret handshake, Ten second epic, The tremulance, The februarys and was also part of the young artists for Haiti that performed Knaans' Wavin flag.



In 2009 she won the best new artist category at the 2009 JUNO awards and in 2010 she was nominated in the indie awards for video of the year and pop artist of the year and in the JUNO awards for pop album of the year. She recently released a new single "My boots" and I hope to see a lot more from this amazing young artist.
